I’m really craving a need to organise my workspace, this is where I blog, design, pay bills, do assignments all this lovely stuff. But I really want a creative nook! a creative workspace, where I can’t wait to sit down and feel inspired to write, blog, design or even pay bills. So my first point of call is pinterest for inspiration>>

Create a Mood board>>

A mood board is a great way to inject your own personally into your creative workspace. Even if you can only afford ikea furniture ( like me;) trust me a moodboard can make all the difference. I’m in the process of spray painting my wire moodboard. I got my husband to find some reinforcing mesh left over from a site job, yay double win win with recycling.  Now I just need to print some photographic pictures or graphic designs to display.

Feature wall background>>

I think this workspace works really well because of the consistent colour palette and materials used. White’s against the blonde timber & leather touches works, such a calming, peaceful, focused space. The light grey wallpaper does work really well in adding an extra layer of texture to the workspace. I do want to try a feature wall colour to my creative nook, at this stage I’m thinking a paint colour – but that could change. I also really like the use of a white simple desk from ikea for $99.

Large photographic print for impact>>

This monochrome home office of Nina Holst from Stylizmo is very on trend. You really can’t go wrong with black and white which makes the space feel calm and organised, but the dramatic print punches attitude + drama; to get your hustle on! The styling of the fur throw over the chair also gives the sense of feminine & softness needed to balance out the colour scheme from feeling too ‘hard’ and ‘edgey’.

Feature Shelves above>>

I really need feature shelves; not only to create ‘#shelfies’ on instagram, but to keep little finger’s out of mum’s pen tray (my 3 yr old loves drawing …on walls..even timber -argh not good). As you can see in Michelle Halford’s home office, is the use of blonde timber highlights with a solid white palette to create cohesion. Again the styling note- of a fur throw is an added touch; for softness.

Add some greenery>>

With this raw workspace you won’t need a window looking out onto a glorious green park.
An idea you could use is sheet of peg board which can be utilised to hang heavier items like planter pots, shelves or tools.

Lighting>>

Think about what type of lighting you would like. Task lighting or decorative/ styling type like here in @pureinteriors workspace. Understated 1 globe lights are big on trend items at the moment and I love the quirkiness of the hand to fix the light to.

White on White, emphasising the calmness >>

There’s something about this white on white space, I think maybe because it doesn’t seem cluttered with lots of different colours or items to distract the eye. It’s all about ‘focus’ in this workspace and really it’s that the main aim. hmm so maybe with my concept I will need to keep this in mind. Was it coco chanel? that always reminded everyone to take more accessories away.
{ less is more notation}
That white space is so important for thinking creatively, just like magazine’s need to allow enough ‘white space’ for words to breathe, perhaps a workspace needs white to ‘focus’.
